This year Edinburgh Studio Opera will be staging Janáček’s wonderful opera The Cunning Little Vixen in March 2010, two nights of fully-staged opera scenes in November 2009 as well as an exciting new staging of Carmina Burana in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2009. This is a huge financial undertaking for the company but we believe we can top the success of the last two year’s sell out shows, La Clemenza di Tito (2009) and Acis & Galatea and Venus & Adonis (2008) owing to our dedicated production team and highly talented cast of young singers.

In order to stage such fantastic operas, and this year to support the new Opera Scenes production in November 2009, we have to raise in excess of £6000 to cover the costs of venue hire, rights, score hire, lighting equipment, costumes, set and publicity to make sure that ESO can put on the same high quality productions for which it is becoming known.
Edinburgh Studio opera receives little help from student associations and instead relies greatly on fundraising by our committee in the form of Opera Cabarets and recitals performed by members of the company, corporate sponsorship and schemes such as these to raise the funds we need to stage such ambitious projects. We would therefore value your support greatly in whatever way possible.

Angels scheme:

We would like to take this opportunity to offer those closest to the company a unique chance to become a supporter of Edinburgh Studio Opera, a scheme that we call ‘ESO Angels’. To become an ‘Angel’ you are asked to donate £10 to the company to sponsor a particular member and to be used for the purposes of an ESO production of your choice (the main production or the opera scenes). In return we would include your name in the programme, we would reserve seating for you on performance nights and give you the chance to book tickets first, you will receive a complimentary glass of wine during the performance interval, and finally you will receive a regular newsletter (by email) which will include news and photos of our concerts and recitals leading up to the opera performances.
